Spurs make an offer for Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have moved to sign David Villa in the transfer window – although the deal hinges on them qualifying for the Champions League.
The Barcelona star is keen to leave Camp Nou, and is willing to the make the move to north London – if Spurs can meet his wage demands. The club are reportedly willign to offer €130,000 (R1.5-million) a week.
Spurs can clinch a place in the top four of the English Premier League on the final day of the season if they beat Sunderland and Arsenal draw or lose at Newcastle.
A Champions League place would mean the London club would have a much larger budget for their summer deals.
Spurs joined Arsenal in showing interest in the 31-year-old Villa in January, but Barcelona were unwilling ot let him go midway through the season.
The Gunners interest has subsequently waned, leaving the path open for Spurs, although a drop in salary is likely to be a stumbling block for Spain’s all time top scorer.
