According to Soccer Laduma's website, Polokwane City's technical director, Bareng Kgobi, is confident that his side will play in the PSL next season, despite the ongoing legal matters involving the NFD clubs and their cases from the 2012/13 season.
The Duncan Lechesa-coached side won automatic promotion to the PSL on goal difference, following their 1-0 win over Roses United in the last game of the season.
Thanda Royal Zulu who were seen as one of the favourites for promotion throughout the season, are currently trying to appeal the league’s initial ruling for them to forfeit the games they didn’t play, while on strike at the beginning of the season.
But Kgobi believes that his side’s promotion is legitimate, as they played all their scheduled 30 games for the season.
“We are not at fault for anything. We have played 30 games. We are not part of what is happening. Unfortunately, there are other teams that know what is happening and want to drag us into it.
“We were not there. We didn’t participate in their strike. We are the outright winners. But what we are doing is that we respect the PSL. We respect them so that they can finish their work. We respect the other 15 clubs in the league, including the one that seems to be against us. But we still respect them as one of us because we are in the same league.
“Some people are confusing things that Polokwane City are not yet the outright champions and all that,” said Kgobi.
