ASD star targeted by Sunderland

Africa Soccer Development (ASD) youngster, David Gateri, is being monitored by English Premier League outfit Sunderland, after returning from a brief trial with the club.
The 18-year-old midfielder recently spent two weeks training with the Black Cats after they spotted him playing for ASD’s Safa Second Division side, and it is thought that even though no contract was offered, they’re still keeping an eye on him and may well invite him back for preseason.

Gateri, who hails from Kenya, is already a full international for his country and is going from strength to strength as his development in Cape Town continues.

According to Soccer Laduma, the youngster is judged to be an exciting prospect for the future and it is believed that his trial in the United Kingdom did go well.

ASD’s academy was contacted by the Siya crew regarding Gateri’s future, and while they confirmed that the young midfielder did undergo a trial with Sunderland in the UK, they explained that there was no other news on him at present.
