Bojan linked with a move to an English team

According to Sky sports, Bojan Krkic's father has revealed that his son is keen to go to a club where he will play regularly and is unlikely to spend next season with AC Milan.
The 22-year-old forward has been on loan at the San Siro from Barcelona for the past 12 months but the Serie A club are not thought to be keen on arranging a new deal.
Liverpool and Swansea City have been linked with Bojan and his father believes Barca could be tempted to part with the player after signing Neymar.
"I am convinced that Bojan has the quality to play for Barca, but his priority is to go to a team where he will have plenty of playing time," said the player's father, also named Bojan Krkic.
"Milan are happy with his progress, but they do not want to loan him again because they cannot guarantee him minutes.
"We have not talked to Barcelona yet because we want to see what Milan say first and because they are tied up with the arrival of Neymar."

Real Boss dreams of Bale in the Galaticos colours

According to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, Gareth Bale was "born" to play for Real Madrid".
Double player of the year Bale missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification with Tottenham this month, sparking renewed speculation about his future.

A Sky Sports reportne says the Wales international's agent Jonathan Barnett said earlier this week he would listen to any offer from Real, and Perez has done little to dampen talk of a summer bid.

Speaking about his future plans ahead of his expected re-election to the presidency, Perez told Marca: "Bale was born to play in Madrid."
There was bad news, too, for Liverpool supporters as Perez revealed his admiration for Luis Suarez.
The Uruguay striker told the press in his home country it would be "difficult to say no to Real", although his agent later insisted Suarez has no plans to leave before next season.
Perez said: "Suarez is a great player and I am sure all in the world would want him. I like him and others too, but it does not always fit."

Real's summer business will include finding a successor to outgoing boss Jose Mourinho, and Sky Bet make PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti an odds-on favourite.
But Perez said: "Ancelotti cannot say he has an offer from Real Madrid because he has not. There are more coaches than him."
The president also confirmed his intention to resist all bids for Cristiano Ronaldo, saying: "He has two years on his deal and is the best in the world.
"I will do my best to get him to sign a new contract and would not sell him for 100m euros. We are not a selling club. I would like him to finish his career here."

United preparing for next season

With goal poacher Malatjila on his way to Mamelodi Sundowns, there are other three players being released bt the team.
The Contracts of both Byrone Hendricks and Wayne Matle come to an end this season and with neither player in the coach’s plans for the new season their contracts will not be renewed, the club said on its website.
Hendricks joined the Team of Choice in the 2009/2010 season and has played 91 times for the Team of Choice.
Matle, who was put on transfer at the beginning of the season, struggled to impose himself during his time in Pietermaritzburg and the Club have decided against renewing his contract.
The Club have terminated the Contract of Veteran Goalkeeper Francis Chansa by mutual agreement. With the arrival of Namibian Goalkeeper Virgil Vries, Chansa has been relegated to 3rd choice and the vlub and player decided to part ways.
Mthokozisi Yende’s Loan deal from Kaizer Chiefs also reaches conclusion at the end of this season which will see him return to Kaizer Chiefs. The club will not be approaching Chiefs for a further loan deal or outright transfer.
The Club would like to thank these players for their contribution and wish them well in their future endeavors

Cape derby ends in a draw

The promotion-relegation match between Chippa United and Santos ended in a 0-0 draw during the cape derby at the Phillippi stadium on Wednesday night.
According to the PSL website, the first half was an evenly balanced affair, with the Chilli boys dominating the second half but failing to make use of several good chances.
The game got off to a very fast paced start, with tackles flying in on the wet turf.
Both sides battled for ascendancy, struggling to find teammates with a potential final pass.
The first chance of the match fell to Santos’ Vuyisile Wana, whose speculative fourth minute shot from 30-yards was not too far off.
A couple of minutes later and Chippa were almost on the score-sheet when Asavela Mbekile struck the bar with his cross from out on the right.
The game remained tight, with the Chilli Boys again close to scoring on 30 minutes when Ricardo Skippers’ attempted clearance nearly went into his own net.
The home side came out looking strong in the second half and were unlucky not to take the lead three minutes after the restart when Buyani Sali curled a 20-yard shot onto the bar.
Mkhanyiseli Siwahla then ensured Santos keeper Pa Demba Touray was on top of his game with a stinging drive at the near post as the Chilli Boys began to sniff a goal.
The pressure continued to come from the Philippi side and a goalmouth scramble on 62 minutes almost yielded a goal for first Sali and then Welcome Qalanto nearly got in on goal.
With 20 minutes to go Siwahla should have given the PSL side the lead, but after some great work by Mbekile, the former Ajax man side-footed wide of goal from just 12-yards out.
A minute later and the Peoples’ Team thought they had a penalty when Msekile Mvalo appeared to handle the ball in his box, but referee Victor Gomes chose not to award a spot kick.
The game then descended into controversy as the wet conditions and the pressurised environment took its toll, resulting in Sali receiving his marching orders, while Tyren Arendse and Tashrique Goldman were both booked.
Welcome Qalanto was then guilty of squandering a great chance when he headed wide from Twala’s cross.
The final minutes of the game saw the contest degenerating into a bit a farce as the challenges became more and more nasty, resulting in regular injury stoppages.
When the final whistle finally blew, it would have been Chippa who would be ruing a string of missed chances in the second half.

Drama in the NFD

According to Soccer Laduma's website, Polokwane City's technical director, Bareng Kgobi, is confident that his side will play in the PSL next season, despite the ongoing legal matters involving the NFD clubs and their cases from the 2012/13 season.

The Duncan Lechesa-coached side won automatic promotion to the PSL on goal difference, following their 1-0 win over Roses United in the last game of the season.

Thanda Royal Zulu who were seen as one of the favourites for promotion throughout the season, are currently trying to appeal the league’s initial ruling for them to forfeit the games they didn’t play, while on strike at the beginning of the season.

But Kgobi believes that his side’s promotion is legitimate, as they played all their scheduled 30 games for the season.

“We are not at fault for anything. We have played 30 games. We are not part of what is happening. Unfortunately, there are other teams that know what is happening and want to drag us into it.

“We were not there. We didn’t participate in their strike. We are the outright winners. But what we are doing is that we respect the PSL. We respect them so that they can finish their work. We respect the other 15 clubs in the league, including the one that seems to be against us. But we still respect them as one of us because we are in the same league.

“Some people are confusing things that Polokwane City are not yet the outright champions and all that,” said Kgobi.

Khune backs four awards

Sunday evening was undoubtedly one of the best night's yet for Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune following four awards he collected at the annual PSL awards at Gold Reef city.
The Amakhosi skipper drove his Kaizer Chiefs charges on a "reclaiming the glory" mission by the start of the 2012/13 season maintaining the top of the log position from the beginning to the end of the campaign.
Along the way to the glorious season campaigning for the league, Khune and his Chiefs mates were collected the Q-Innovation and ended up winning the league title and recently the nedbank cup.
Spider Kid led his team to a double, with Chiefs winning the ABSA Premiership before they completed the season on Saturday with a win over SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup final.
Spider kid has not only continued to prove his sheer talent when it comes to shot stopping, having pulled off another host of fine saves throughout the season. But his superb distribution and consistency has been vital in bringing glory days back to Naturena.
Along with being named as the top player this term, he was also named Goalkeeper of the Season, the Players' Player of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.

Baxter delighted over double

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was lost for words after his side completed a league and cup double on Saturday.
Bernard Parker fired Amakhosi to a 1-0 win in the final of the Nedbank Cup and Baxter admitted that he was extremely proud of his side.
The coach said that at the start of the season, he would not have dreamed of completing a double but he said that as the season pushed on, his players made him believe.
"I don't know what thoughts I have at the moment to tell you the truth. I'm immensely proud of the players and the way they played in a cup final," he said.
"First-half was a bit so-so, but we remained true to the way we played all year. We opened up the field and played in pockets of space. When we started to do that, we played very well so I’m delighted.
"I thought in the first-half we weren't brave enough, but in the second-half and extra-time we opened the field beautifully and we could get more movement behind their backline.
"When we first started out in Potchefstroom, If someone had told me that we would do the double I would have asked them how much alcohol they had been drinking.
"But the more the players gelled and the more committed they became, suddenly I started to believe it."

Chiefs end 8 year league drought

Chiefs players couldn't stop smiling after being crowned Absa Premiership Champions.

Mosimane scoops Q4 award

Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane had something to smile about over the weekend after his hard work on the Pretoria side was recognised after being named as Q-4 top coach.

Mosimane’s Sundowns narrowly missed out on the Q-4 title, which was eventually won by Platinum Stars, after their 2-2 draw with Wits on the last day of the season.

However, the PSL still deemed the coach’s achievements to be worthy of recognition, choosing him ahead of Cavin Johnson, as well as Steve Barker of University of Pretoria and Bloemfontein Celtic’s Clinton Larsen, who finished level with Downs on 12 points.

Meanwhile, Ng’ambi was rewarded for his fine form in recent weeks with the award of the quarter’s best player.

The midfield man scored six goals in the PSL season, three of which came in the final quarter as Dikwena finally surrendered the league title to Kaizer Chiefs.

Due to their victory in Q-4, Ng’ambi’s club will take home the R1.5 million prize money for the second time this season, following their victory in the second quarter

Spurs make an offer for Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have moved to sign David Villa in the transfer window – although the deal hinges on them qualifying for the Champions League.
The Barcelona star is keen to leave Camp Nou, and is willing to the make the move to north London – if Spurs can meet his wage demands. The club are reportedly willign to offer €130,000 (R1.5-million) a week.
Spurs can clinch a place in the top four of the English Premier League on the final day of the season if they beat Sunderland and Arsenal draw or lose at Newcastle.
A Champions League place would mean the London club would have a much larger budget for their summer deals.
Spurs joined Arsenal in showing interest in the 31-year-old Villa in January, but Barcelona were unwilling ot let him go midway through the season.
The Gunners interest has subsequently waned, leaving the path open for Spurs, although a drop in salary is likely to be a stumbling block for Spain’s all time top scorer.

Barely the best footballer, but well known around the globe!!

David Beckham first appeared on television as a spiky-haired child, excitedly burbling about his ambitions to be a professional footballer. If you were one of the few to see it, you probably smiled indulgently and then forgot all about him. Now it seems that there is barely a soul on the planet who hasn't seen him on television. Beckham is, for two more weeks anyway, the most famous footballer on Earth. It's an extraordinary outcome for someone who wasn't even the best footballer on his team for much of his career.

That might sound unnecessarily harsh. Beckham was, of course, an excellent footballer, a man who allied his natural strengths to a determined programme of hard work from an early age. But in terms of natural talent, he wasn't in the same class as Paul Scholes at Manchester United. He was well-liked at Real Madrid, but he wasn't as good as Zinedine Zidane or Ronaldo. When he broke into the England team, it was at the close of Paul Gascoigne's career. Now he was a football genius. With the exception of Beckham's time in the United States, there were always better natural players around him.

Yet that shouldn't diminish his achievements, it should enhance them. While Gascoigne squandered his talents, Beckham squeezed everything out of his career from the first day to the last. And while he pushed himself to the limit on the pitch, his profile skyrocketed away from it. He has always been, as Derek Zoolander might put it, "really, really, really ridiculously good-looking."

Back in 2004, while watching England on the television in a London pub, a work colleague of mine inadvertently summed up the mind-boggling level of celebrity that he had reached.

"Gosh," she said. "Isn't it weird watching Beckham play football?"

To her, and to others who didn't follow the game, he was just a ubiquitous, ever-burning ball of fame. Like a male Kardashian or Hilton, people might not have known exactly what he did for a living, but by thunder, they knew what he looked like in his underpants. He was essentially two different people: Beckham the footballer and Beckham the celebrity.

For non-football fans, even Beckham's mistakes were markedly different. England supporters might recall with a grimace his foolish kick at Diego Simone in the 1998 World Cup, a particularly silly act that resulted in a red card, England's exit from the tournament and an entirely unhinged national hate campaign complete with burning effigies. His 'celebrity' fans would remember the sarong he wore in the same year.

But the funny thing about Beckham, the principal reason for his success was that neither genre of mistake was allowed to disrupt his career. And what a career it was. Ten league titles in four countries, 115 international caps and an OBE from the Queen. He did it all in spite of a media profile that would have crushed most men to a pulp, leaving them no option but to burst into tears on Oprah's sofa and ask for forgiveness.

We readily accept the price of fame when it is charged, but we are too slow to acknowledge when somehow it hasn't been added to the bill. Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, George Best -- we've seen them all buckle under something. But Beckham never buckled. He just kept floating serenely through his career like a swan, with all the hard work going unnoticed beneath the waterline. It's one thing to do that as a sportsman, like Roger Federer, for example. It's another thing to do it when you are openly courting the celebrity media, pushing endorsements and branded products, inviting the beast into your home. Perhaps there might have been slip-ups beneath the veneer, but we were never allowed to see them, and they never disturbed the relentless accumulation of trophies.

Beckham was not, by some distance, the greatest footballer ever to play for England. Nor was he the greatest English player of his generation. He was a man who, in spite of everything that life, the game and 21st-century culture had to throw at him, achieved everything that he could in his professional career.

In a way, that's almost more impressive than simply being good at football.

ASD star targeted by Sunderland

Africa Soccer Development (ASD) youngster, David Gateri, is being monitored by English Premier League outfit Sunderland, after returning from a brief trial with the club.
The 18-year-old midfielder recently spent two weeks training with the Black Cats after they spotted him playing for ASD’s Safa Second Division side, and it is thought that even though no contract was offered, they’re still keeping an eye on him and may well invite him back for preseason.

Gateri, who hails from Kenya, is already a full international for his country and is going from strength to strength as his development in Cape Town continues.

According to Soccer Laduma, the youngster is judged to be an exciting prospect for the future and it is believed that his trial in the United Kingdom did go well.

ASD’s academy was contacted by the Siya crew regarding Gateri’s future, and while they confirmed that the young midfielder did undergo a trial with Sunderland in the UK, they explained that there was no other news on him at present.

Chelsea triumph in Europa league

Frank Lampard to be offered another contract by Chelsea. Pic: Kickoff
Branislav Ivanovic buried a terrific looping header deep into stoppage time as Chelsea beat Benfica 2-1 to win the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night.
Benfica started the game well with Oscar Cardozo heading over in the second minute before he saw another strike blocked Ivanovic in the 10th.
The chances continued for the Portuguese side with Nicholas Gaitan lifting over in the 11th minute before Rodrigo missed two chances in the 14th minute.
Frank Lampard finally brought the Blues into the game with a superb dipping shot in the 36th minute which was saved by the goalkeper while the midfielder fired over on the stroke of half-time.
Cardozo saw an early header ruled out for a tight offside call in the 51st minute and just eight minutes later Fernando Torres would open the scoring.
The Spaniard held off Luisao before rounding the goalkeeper and slotting his finish into the empty net.
Benfica took nine minutes to respond though as Azpilicueta blocked a lofted ball with an outstretched arm and Cardozo hammered home the resulting penalty.
Petr Cech then had to tip a shot from Cardozo wide in the 81st minute while Lampard smashed another superb strike against the crossbar.
There would be late drama though as a corner in the second minute of stoppage time was met by Ivanovic and it settled in at the far post as Chelsea claimed the title.

Chiefs reclaim the Glory!

Tshepo Ntsoelengoe
You can go anywhere in the world, and every football manager  will tell you that consistency wins a team the championship title, and that is exactly how Kaizer Chiefs won it.
Without any doubt, that is how teams like Manchester United and Barcelona to mention a few win league titles.
Taking one game at a time and keeping the winning momentum is some of the key elements that push a team to go through the whole season with an unfortunate one or two loses in the season.
The Mighty Amakhosi have been on top of the log since the beginning of the season and were always on top of their game, Something that was not there in the previous seasons.
It must be said that Stuart Baxter, who is on his first season with the Soweto giants has brought in some light and hope for the glamour boys. The Scottish however, started with some bad critics with most of the Chiefs fans not really believing in his capabilities after his spell with European country Finland.
And the teams 3-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN 8 hugely raised more eyebrows for the faithful Chiefs supporters as they thought the management had made a wrong decision by bringing him (Baxter) to Naturena.
But that thought was all to fade away following a number of good results and beautiful display of football from the players. The team as a whole had done fantastically well, but for individual brilliance, players like Bernard Parker and Itumeleng Khune have to stand up among the rest as they have done enormously well throughout the season.
Parker is among the league’s top goal scorers with twelve goals second behind Mamelodi Sundowns goal poacher, katlego Mphela finding the back of the net thirteen times. The forward has not only been scoring goals for Chiefs, but he has also been a key player for them as he has been influential in some of the goals being scored by his teammates.
Chiefs have been great this season, but their job is not done yet as they still have to take part in the Nedbank cup final against Supersport over the weekend. Should Chiefs win the Nedbank cup, it would really be an incredible and successful season for Baxter.
